Production mechanics generally work in smaller and medium-sized businesses, operating in one of the following areas: electrical engineering, plastics technology, agricultural technology, mechanical engineering, metal construction. They make components for equipment, instruments and machines. They process high-grade steel, other metals or plastics according to data taken from technical drawings. Various machines that they are also able to maintain and repair are employed for the production. If components are made in bulk on production equipment, they monitor the production process, take action when the need arises and check the finished components.
