Commercial clerks deal with the various tasks that occupy the administrative departments of all companies to a greater or lesser degree: they draft letters, records, contracts both in their mother tongue and in foreign languages, write reports, draw up concepts, promote products, make agreements with customers and suppliers, clarify matters, make purchases, plan, organise, keep the books, produce statistics etc. For many of their tasks, they use a computer. Of course, the tasks vary according to job, company size and industrial sector. The apprenticeship is seen as a foundation stone. After completing it, it is important to continue learning and specialising in line with the individual’s own interests and abilities.
Enhanced vocational education (E-profile) / Higher vocational education with diploma (M-profile): Commercial clerks with a higher vocational education diploma have more extensive theoretical knowledge of the business sector. They are familiar with the operational and customer-relevant procedures as well as business management relationships. They are able to carry out the tasks assigned to them purposefully and expertly, seek out solutions on their own initiative and bear responsibility for them.
Those who choose the M-profile, prepare themselves for the Higher Vocational School Diploma in Business Administration in addition to the enhanced vocational education, either as an integral part of the apprenticeship or as a full-time year after completing the apprenticeship. In the course of this, they will also acquire internationally recognised language diplomas and a more extensive general education.
Note: The Higher Vocational School Diploma in Business Administration can also be completed at a later date after completion of the apprenticeship.
